In a sharp rebuke, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC criticized her rival, Shiv Sena UBT's Arvind Sawant, after he referred to her as 'imported maal'. The derogatory term was used by Sawant to highlight Shaina's political migration from BJP to Shiv Sena, a move he dubbed ineffective due to her 'imported' status.
Speaking to ANI, Shaina retorted, asserting that Sawant's comments revealed a disrespect toward women, especially those active in politics. She predicted that public opinion would hold him accountable for his remarks and called attention to the demeaning nature in which women are often addressed in political discourse.
Further drawing contrasts between empowerment and objectification, Shaina pointed out ongoing schemes like the Eknath Shinde's Ladki Behan Yojana and the Prime Minister's Ujjwala, underscoring the disparities in political attitudes. She also criticized Congress MLA Amin Patel who was reportedly present during the incident, signaling a collective responsibility in promoting respect.
