The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of mismanaging Delhi's air quality by failing to repair the city's damaged roads. According to the BJP, these infrastructural neglects, rather than fireworks during Diwali, are responsible for the capital's deteriorating air quality.

Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, highlighted the situation during a visit to Shastri Park. He criticized the AAP's leadership for unmet promises to fix the roads before the festive season, blaming them for hindering efforts to combat local pollution sources such as dust.

The air quality index (AQI) plunged to 362, marking a 'very poor' level despite a citywide firecracker ban, exposing further challenges as pollution looks set to rise. The BJP claims local sources and agricultural activities will elevate pollution levels unless immediate action is taken.
