Allegations of discrepancies in nomination papers filed by Congress MLA Kailash Gorantyal and rival Shiv Sena's Arjun Khotkar have been dismissed by Jalna assembly seat returning officer Shrimant Harkal, an official confirmed on Thursday.
Gorantyal argued that Khotkar's affidavit lacked details on allowances from his role with the local agriculture market, while Khotkar claimed Gorantyal omitted fees for his stay at Maharashtra Sadan.
After a three-hour review, Returning Officer Harkal rejected both complaints and accepted the nomination papers. The two adversaries are set to face off on November 20, with election results to follow on November 23.
