Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has accused the BJP of using the Waqf land issue as a political tool with sights set on the approaching assembly by-polls and elections in neighboring Maharashtra. Allegations have emerged from farmers in regions of Karnataka claiming their lands were labeled as Waqf properties.
Siddaramaiah responded to these grievances, emphasizing that eviction notices, particularly those dating back to BJP's administration, will be retracted. He criticized the BJP for its 'dual politics,' pointing out that over 200 notices were issued during their governance. The BJP, however, is gearing up for a statewide protest on November 4 to demand the resignation of Minority Welfare and Waqf Minister B Z Zameer Ahamed Khan.
Addressing reporters, the CM reaffirmed his stance that no farmers would face eviction. He linked the BJP's actions to electoral maneuvers, as by-polls are set for November 13 in Channapatna, Shiggaon, and Sandur. Meanwhile, he confirmed his campaign plans ahead of these elections, expressing confidence in Congress's success across the contested segments.
