Trudeau Secures Political Future Amid Opposition Challenges

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau seems to have secured his immediate political future after the leader of a smaller party dismissed challenges to his minority Liberal government.
The Conservatives and the Bloc Quebecois, the two largest opposition groups, had aimed to topple Trudeau, in power for nine years. However, their plans faltered when Jagmeet Singh, leader of the New Democrats, said he would not support triggering an election.
Polls indicate that both the New Democrats and Liberals would likely perform poorly in an election. Meanwhile, Bloc Quebecois leader Yves-Francois Blanchet had been negotiating for more funding for seniors and protections for Quebec farmers but said Trudeau had failed to act in time.
