In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, India and China have reached an agreement to regulate patrolling along the contested Line of Actual Control (LAC), bringing an end to over four years of military standoff. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, marking the occasion, described it as a major success resulting from prolonged efforts and celebrated Diwali with soldiers in Tezpur, Assam.

Addressing the troops, Singh commended their courage and dedication, attributing the successful negotiations with China to their bravery. He emphasized India's intent to maintain amicable relations with its neighbours but acknowledged the need for vigilance in border protection.

With disengagement complete in Eastern Ladakh, India's move aims to restore pre-2020 conditions strained by Chinese aggression. Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent dialogue at the BRICS Summit was pivotal. Singh, unable to visit Tawang due to weather, celebrated Diwali with his 'armed forces family' in Assam, reflecting a nationwide tradition of defence leaders joining troops during festivities.
