Police summon Aviva India CEO in religion-based discrimination case, company denies allegations

Authorities in India have called upon Asit Rath, Aviva India's CEO, to partake in an investigation concerning accusations of religious discrimination levied by a former employee. Documents reviewed by Reuters indicate the probe is taking place in Punjab's Faridkot city.

The inquiry follows a complaint filed by Gurbir Singh, a Sikh former employee, who alleges being subjected to derogatory religious remarks by company executives. Aviva has strongly refuted these allegations, labeling them 'factually incorrect.'

Simultaneously, the company is under observation for suspected illegal payments to insurance brokers, charges it rejects. Aviva India, largely owned by Aviva Global, contends with fierce market competition from entities like LIC.
