Congress MP Manish Tewari has called for a reconsideration of electronic voting machines (EVMs), urging a return to paper ballots to safeguard democracy from technology's uncertainties. According to Tewari, nations worldwide have reverted to traditional voting methods, making it imperative for India to follow suit.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) dismissed allegations by the Congress party about irregularities in recent Haryana elections, describing them as 'baseless' and 'unfounded.' The ECI, in its response, advised the Congress to avoid making non-substantive claims post-elections, warning that such rhetoric could incite unrest during critical electoral periods.
BJP leader Tarun Chugh criticized the Congress, calling it a 'sinking ship' with no thought-out policies. He argued that Congress habitually blames EVMs for their electoral defeats, despite previously accepting the systems when they result in elections won by Congress, like in Karnataka or Telangana.
