The Election Commission ignited a voter awareness campaign in Odisha on Tuesday, embarking on a special summary revision of the electoral roll, set to last through November 28. Initiatives to promote voter participation included a walkathon and 'pathutsav' organized by Chief Electoral Officer R S Gopalan.
The walkathon witnessed participation from hundreds of students, taking a route from Master Canteen Square to Ram Mandir Square. This effort, along with the 'pathutsav' street festival, aimed to invigorate public consciousness about the importance of voter registration.
CEO Gopalan emphasized the need for every citizen above the age of 18 to be on the voter list, underscoring the fundamental role this plays in democracy. Khurda district collector Chanchal Rana highlighted how democracy and elections are inseparable, reinforcing the campaign's significance.
