The Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) has bolstered its candidate roster for the Maharashtra assembly elections by adding five more candidates, bringing its total to 87. This comes shortly after the party's fourth list was announced on Monday, featuring seven candidates for the scheduled November 20 polls.
Significant changes in the line-up include replacing sitting MLA Anil Deshmukh with his son Salil from the Katol assembly constituency in Nagpur district. Additionally, the candidate for the Mohol assembly seat in Solapur district was substituted; Siddhi Ramesh Kadam gave way to Raju Khare due to objections over her local ties.
The NCP (SP) further strengthened its presence with Abhijit Patil in Madha, Anil Sawant in Pandharpur, Girish Karale in Morshi, and Sangeeta Waje in Mulund. Contesting under the MVA banner with Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress, the NCP (SP) aims to secure a significant share in the assembly, aligning with its allies who have also fielded numerous candidates.
