Congress candidate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has stepped up her campaign efforts in Wayanad for the upcoming Lok Sabha by-elections. During a speech in Kozhikode, she highlighted the unwavering support her brother, Rahul Gandhi, received from the people of Wayanad during challenging times. Vadra praised the constituents for their unwavering loyalty, noting, "A massive campaign was unleashed against my brother to tarnish his reputation. You, the people of Wayanad, loved, supported, and voted for him."
Vadra, the Congress general secretary, emphasized the constituency's early recognition of Rahul Gandhi's struggles before the world acknowledged them. "Today, the entire world recognises him, but you saw it first," she affirmed. Vadra expressed gratitude for the bond forged with Wayanad and reiterated her commitment to addressing local concerns if elected, pledging to champion their issues in Parliament.
Wayanad skirts a keen battle as the polls near, with Priyanka Gandhi representing the United Democratic Front (UDF) against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Navya Haridas and the Left's Sathyan Mokeri. This election seeks to fill the vacancy left by Rahul Gandhi after his election to Raebareli. The Wayanad polls, alongside other crucial by-elections, are scheduled for November 13.
