BJP MLA Harvinder Kalyan was unanimously elected as the speaker of the Haryana Assembly, marking a key political milestone on Friday. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini led the proposal, with support from BJP MLA Ranbir Gangwa.
The 15th state Assembly saw its first session amidst fanfare, as Protem Speaker Raghuvir Singh Kadian administered the oath to newly elected MLAs. Kalyan succeeds to the role with esteem, a recognized figure as a three-time MLA from Gharaunda, with his selection witnessing collective applause from various political factions.
The ceremony was a heady mix of tradition and political camaraderie. As the BJP celebrated a third consecutive term with 48 seats, Chief Minister Saini and his council were administered oaths in a ceremony that also featured spirited slogans from various MLAs.
