The Bharatiya Janata Party has launched a fierce critique of the Congress party, labeling it as the 'kachha nimbu' of politics, a term used to describe an ineffective player relegated to the sidelines. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla made this assertion on Friday, targeting Congress for its diminishing influence from Jammu and Kashmir to Kerala.
Poonawalla highlighted the Samajwadi Party's role in Uttar Pradesh, alleging it has conducted Congress's political 'funeral' in the state, likening Congress's condition to a mere skeleton after losing its electoral significance. He remarked that Congress has accepted its inability to compete, as its vote bank has been claimed by others.
With the Uttar Pradesh assembly by-elections approaching, 19 candidates have filed nominations, with the polling scheduled for November 13 and vote counting on November 23. The Samajwadi Party, with Congress's support, aims to contest all nine available seats, enhancing its political foothold amid a field of 48 constituencies across 15 states set for by-polls.
