In a dramatic turn of events, three BJP leaders have announced their intentions to contest independently from Jalna for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. The dispute emerges after the contentious Jalna seat was assigned to Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena as part of the Mahayuti alliance's seat-sharing deal.
The Shiv Sena's Arjun Khotkar, who will be campaigning from Jalna, faces opposition not just from rival parties but from within the alliance itself. Bhaskar Danve, BJP district vice president, filed his nomination as an independent candidate, underscoring the internal rifts.
This move by BJP leaders illustrates growing tensions within the Mahayuti coalition, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP. The upcoming elections, scheduled for November 20, promise to be a testing ground for alliances in Maharashtra politics.
