In a surprising political move, the NCP (SP) announced that Yugendra Pawar would run against his uncle, Ajit Pawar, in the Baramati assembly elections. This move comes as the party released its first list of 45 candidates for the upcoming elections.
Yugendra, the son of Shrinivas Pawar, Ajit Pawar's younger brother, is set to represent a new dynamic in the Pawar political lineage. The list also features influential party figures like state chief Jayant Patil, Jitendra Awhad, and newcomers like Rohit Patil, the son of the late R R Patil.
The announcement also highlights past electoral rivalries, especially as Ajit Pawar's wife Sunetra faced a defeat in the Lok Sabha elections with a considerable voter gap against NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule.
