The Telangana BJP is escalating its opposition against the Congress government's Musi river rejuvenation efforts, accusing them of adopting an anti-poor stance. As part of their campaign, the BJP has announced a 'Maha Dharna' to take place on Friday, as confirmed by party officials.
State BJP president G Kishan Reddy is set to lead the protest scheduled from 11 AM to 5 PM on Thursday. The BJP blames the Congress government for the 'unilateral' demolition of homes belonging to the poor near the Musi river, actions that have sparked concerns among local residents.
Union Minister of State for Home, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, criticized the Congress, claiming corruption masked under the river project. He contrasted it with the previous BRS government's handling of the Kaleshwaram project and expressed concerns over increasing state debt and financial mismanagement under Congress's proposed loan strategies.
