The opposition, led by the Congress-headed UDF, has criticized the government's handling of the situation, underscoring alleged double standards especially regarding CPI(M) leader P P Divya, whose accusations of corruption against Babu are purported to have influenced his decision to take his own life.
Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan has openly accused the CPI(M) and the state government of protecting those linked to Babu's death, suggesting that an honest investigation would connect the incident to higher levels within the party and government.
