In a politically charged move, Congress has announced its candidates for the upcoming Karnataka by-polls, naming C P Yogeeshwara for Channapatna and E Annapurna for Sandur. Yogeeshwara's candidature comes amid his high-profile switch from BJP to Congress, increasing the stakes in the Channapatna seat.
The by-polls, scheduled for November 13, were necessitated after representatives Tukaram, former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, and Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy were elected to the Lok Sabha. With the final date for nomination withdrawal set for October 30, political parties are in a race against time to finalize their candidates.
Meanwhile, the BJP has confirmed Bharath Bommai for Shiggaon. Party dynamics have shifted significantly, with alliances and resignations creating a volatile electoral environment. Congress remains undecided on its Shiggaon candidate, while JD(S) and BJP controversies continue to unfold over candidate selections.
