Dhrubajyoti Purakayastha, the Congress candidate, has officially filed his nomination for the upcoming assembly bypolls in Assam's Dholai constituency, according to an announcement from a senior official on Tuesday.

Assam's Chief Electoral Officer, Anurag Goel, confirmed that Purakayastha was the sole Congress representative to submit his nomination at the District Commissioner's office in Cachar on the specified day. The bypolls will occur on November 13, with vote counting set for November 23.

The nomination process concludes on October 25, followed by scrutiny on October 28. By October 30, candidates must finalize their participation. Purakayastha, backed by a significant crowd of leaders and supporters, marched to the DC office for his nomination, with Assam Congress president Bhupen Kumar Borah and other prominent figures in attendance. Criticizing the BJP, Borah stated that Barak Valley's populace, including tea garden workers, has been let down by unfulfilled promises and anticipates that the Dholai electorate will retaliate with a strong verdict.
