Xi Jinping Heads to Russia for Pivotal BRICS Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping departed for Russia on Tuesday to attend the BRICS summit. Leaders of the bloc, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are expected to meet to align on strategies for 'greater cooperation' among member nations.

This BRICS summit marks a new chapter as the bloc expands to include five additional nations: Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. President Xi will present China's vision to enhance collaboration and bolster solidarity within the Global South, aiming for stronger multilateral ties.

This summit is especially noteworthy following India's reported breakthrough in resolving the military standoff in Eastern Ladakh, a significant step towards mending India-China relations. President Xi, invited by Russian President Vladimir Putin, will engage in discussions focusing on international affairs, BRICS cooperation, and global development.
