In a recent political shift in Jharkhand, several former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Lois Marandi and Kunal Sarangi, have defected to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo described the defectors as "dejected and rejected" individuals pursuing fresh opportunities, asserting that these departures do not weaken the party's commitment to the state's progress.
Deo highlighted that only a select few among the BJP's millions of workers get a chance to contest elections, reaffirming that the party's ultimate strength lies in its dedicated cadre. He emphasized that the exit of individuals who prioritize personal political advancement over party allegiance does not undermine the BJP's developmental focus.
The defections to JMM were marked by symbolic meetings, including one where Lois Marandi, citing a lack of support from the BJP, expressed her commitment to continue serving her constituents. Meanwhile, Kunal Sarangi criticized the internal dynamics of the BJP, alleging a culture of corruption. These moves occur as Jharkhand prepares for its assembly elections, with voting scheduled for mid-November and a strategic alliance forming among JMM, Congress, and other parties under the I.N.D.I.A banner.
