India reaffirmed its significant contributions to the BRICS bloc, underscoring its influence on economic growth, sustainable development, and global governance reform. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized India's role in promoting global multi-polarity on the eve of Prime Minister Modi's visit to Kazan for the 16th BRICS Summit.

Scheduled to begin on Tuesday, the summit marks the first meeting of the group following its expansion last year. Leaders are set to adopt the Kazan declaration, which will outline the bloc's future direction. The summit also serves as a crucial platform to address global challenges and foster a fair international order.

During the summit, Prime Minister Modi is expected to engage in bilateral talks with leaders from BRICS member countries, including a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the Ukraine conflict. Modi previously visited Moscow, and later, Ukraine, signaling India's readiness to mediate peace talks between the two nations.
