Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav announced on Monday that discussions with Congress regarding seat-sharing for the November 13 Uttar Pradesh bypolls are underway. Yadav expressed strong confidence in Karhal, a known SP stronghold, predicting historic results in the constituency.

This assurance comes as Tej Pratap Singh Yadav, the SP candidate for the Karhal Assembly seat, filed his nomination. The election became necessary after Akhilesh Yadav, initially elected from Karhal, resigned following his election as MP from Kannauj. SP MP Dimple Yadav echoed this confidence, emphasizing the party's readiness and favorable disposition following recent Lok Sabha outcomes.

Highlighting BJP's delay in announcing a candidate, Tej Pratap Singh Yadav claimed the public's support for SP. Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav commented on Maharashtra assembly elections, indicating SP's plan to contest in areas with a strong organizational presence. The Election Commission has scheduled the bypolls for nine seats in UP, with results to be announced on November 23, excluding Milkipur in Ayodhya due to pending issues.
