In a significant diplomatic engagement, United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held informal talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the latter's residence near Moscow. The leaders discussed potential pathways to peace in Ukraine, underlining Sheikh Mohammed's commitment to support efforts in ending the conflict.
The meeting, which continued until midnight, saw Sheikh Mohammed reiterate his country's readiness to mediate prisoner exchanges. 'We continue to make efforts to mediate the exchange of prisoners,' said Sheikh Mohammed. 'And I assure you that we will continue to work in this direction. We are ready to make any efforts to resolve crises and in the interests of peace, in the interests of both sides.'
The talks build on praise from Putin for Sheikh Mohammed and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's previous mediation efforts. This meeting underscores the UAE's proactive role in regional diplomacy and conflict resolution.
