In a strategic move, the Congress party has unveiled its candidates for the upcoming bye-elections in the legislative assemblies of Assam and Madhya Pradesh, scheduled for November 13.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the selection of nominees for four seats in Assam, namely Dholai (SC), Sidli (ST), Bongaigaon, and Samaguri, and two pivotal seats in Madhya Pradesh, Budhni and Vijaypur. These selections are anticipated to challenge the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dominance in the regions.
Budhni, a former stronghold of Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, seeks a new representative following his election as an MP from Vidisha. Vijaypur awaits a replacement post the defection of ex-Congress official Ramniwas Rawat to the BJP. As political strategies unfold, the electorate's decision will be revealed on November 23.
