Union Minister of Labour, Employment, Youth Affairs, and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, highlighting India's progress towards becoming a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. At the inauguration of the upgraded SAI Golf Course in Thiruvananthapuram, Mandaviya stated that India aims to rank among the world's top ten in sports.

Mandaviya underscored the importance of the Trivandrum Golf Club as a hub of sports excellence, forecasting that the 2036 Olympics in India would nurture the nation's sporting talent. The government is committed to promoting sports by identifying and nurturing grassroots talent through initiatives like the Target Olympic Podium Scheme, he noted.

He also discussed the draft National Sports Governance Bill, 2024, which seeks to establish a robust framework for sports governance in India, emphasizing ethical practices and athlete welfare. Key features include the creation of a Sports Regulatory Board and increased athlete representation in decision-making bodies. Mandaviya also emphasized the introduction of a 'Safe Sports Policy' to protect athletes from abuse.
