Mahayuti Alliance Nears Final Seat-Sharing Agreement for Maharashtra Elections

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Saturday that the Mahayuti alliance, consisting of the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), is nearing completion in its seat-sharing discussions. The BJP's first list of candidates is anticipated to be released imminently. Fadnavis explained to reporters that ongoing discussions are resolving any remaining disagreements.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde confirmed that the seat-sharing within the Mahayuti is close to finalization. He mentioned a positive meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, indicating that the seat distribution would soon be completed, bringing favorable news for the alliance.
A significant meeting regarding the NDA alliance for the Maharashtra assembly elections took place at Amit Shah's residence on Friday night, attended by key figures including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The discussions covered the division of 240 agreed-upon seats, with further negotiations for 48 remaining constituencies.
The seat-sharing plan proposes that the BJP will contest approximately 150-160 seats, the Shiv Sena about 75-85 seats, and the NCP around 48-55 seats. Maharashtra's assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with the counting of votes on November 23, as all parties prepare for a pivotal electoral contest.
