In a strategic political move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated young leader Navya Haridas to challenge Congress's Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the upcoming Lok Sabha bye-election for the Wayanad seat. The position was vacated by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who also successfully contested from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh earlier this year.

According to Congress sources, Priyanka Gandhi is set to file her nomination papers on October 23, with a roadshow featuring both Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi planned ahead of the nomination process. This election marks Priyanka Gandhi's official entry into the electoral arena, having received Congress's backing on October 15, post the Election Commission's bypoll schedule announcement.

The Wayanad electorate, along with voters in 47 assembly seats across 15 states, will cast their votes on November 13. This date also marks the beginning of the assembly polls in Jharkhand. Navya Haridas, the BJP nominee, is notably an office-bearer with the BJP Mahila Morcha in Kerala.
