Formula One's governing body, the FIA, has announced key senior appointments following a wave of high-profile resignations that fueled speculation of an exodus. Spaniard Alberto Villarreal has joined as general manager, a strategic role reporting to FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and Senate President Carmelo Sanz de Barros.
Villarreal's appointment comes shortly after the departure of Natalie Robyn, the FIA's first CEO, who served for only 18 months. Her exit follows three other senior executives and several other top officials, leading to extensive media coverage.
Additionally, Italian Alessandra Malhame steps into the position of senior HR director. These leadership changes reflect an ongoing restructuring effort spearheaded by Ben Sulayem, aiming to enhance administrative efficiency and governance at FIA.
