The Congress party on Wednesday raised serious concerns regarding discrepancies found in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the Haryana assembly polls, urging the Election Commission of India to conduct a thorough investigation. The party suspects unusual battery functioning in the EVMs might have skewed the election results, creating significant doubts over the counting process.

A senior delegation from the Congress, including former chief ministers Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Ashok Gehlot, presented a memorandum of complaints to the Election Commission, highlighting issues from multiple constituencies. Among the noted discrepancies was the anomalous battery level in EVMs, which reportedly operated at a 99 percent capacity, while others functioned at 60-70 percent.

The Congress leaders, including prominent figures like K C Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh, Ajay Maken, and Abhishek Singhvi, alleged electoral malpractice and demanded an official response from the Election Commission. They indicated potential implications on election outcomes, pushing for immediate security measures on the disputed EVMs pending the inquiry's outcome. The party has vowed to provide further complaints within 48 hours.
