In a significant political development, Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti extended her congratulations to the National Conference-Congress alliance for securing a decisive mandate in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Addressing a press conference, Mufti asserted that the clear mandate eliminates any opportunity for political maneuvering that could undermine the voters' decision.

The Election Commission of India announced that the National Conference secured 42 seats, followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party with 29 seats, Congress with 6, and the PDP with 3. Mufti expressed satisfaction with the voters' choice, stating that it prevents any potential for dirty tricks that might thwart the democratic process.

Mufti also conveyed her appreciation to both the leadership of the National Conference-Congress alliance and the voters of Jammu and Kashmir for their pivotal role in establishing a stable government. This election comes after a tumultuous period for the region, particularly since August 5, 2019. Meanwhile, Iltija Mehbooba Mufti, PDP candidate and the daughter of Mehbooba Mufti, acknowledged her electoral defeat with gratitude towards the people of Bijbehara and the tireless efforts of PDP workers.
