In a significant political development, the National Conference and Congress alliance is poised to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir. They crossed the majority mark by securing 48 seats, although only two Hindus emerged victorious on the regional party's ticket.
In stark contrast, the BJP, which won 29 seats, is predominantly represented by Hindus. Controversial races included National Conference's Surinder Choudhary, who achieved a noteworthy victory over Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina, with a margin of 7,819 votes in the Nowshera constituency.
This election also saw a considerable representation issue, with none of the BJP's 25 Muslim candidates winning, and Congress's Hindu candidates failing to secure any seats. The results underscore the complex political dynamics in the region.
