Iltija Mufti Trails in Jammu & Kashmir as National Conference Leads

Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, is trailing in her constituency with 17,127 votes, 5,067 votes behind her nearest rival. Despite an earnest campaign, Iltija expressed her acceptance of the electoral outcome and gratitude towards the people for their support.
Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri from the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference has taken the lead with 22,194 votes, marking a significant advantage in the ongoing elections. The latest data released by the Election Commission indicates that the National Conference and Congress alliance is ahead in 50 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party holds a strong lead with 286 seats.
Counting continues across the 90 constituencies in the region. Amid these developments, PDP candidate Zuhaib Yousuf Mir hinted at aligning with the National Conference-Congress alliance to prevent the BJP from gaining power. He emphasized PDP's aim of forming a secular administration in Jammu & Kashmir.
