Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, who came to power in 2019 when his Militant Socialist Movement won a parliamentary majority, remains a pivotal figure in Mauritius' political landscape. His 2019 victory was upheld by a British court, dismissing allegations of election misconduct.
Jugnauth assumed office in 2017, succeeding his father and steering the country of 1.3 million towards prosperity. Mauritius continues to position itself strategically as a bridge between Africa and Asia, boasting a robust financial sector.
