Historic Voter Turnout in Jammu and Kashmir: Women Lead the Way

Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a remarkable voter turnout of 69.69% in the third phase of Assembly elections, as women turned out in larger numbers than men, the Election Commission reported on Thursday.
Overall, voter turnout was recorded at 63.88%, an increase compared to 58.58% in the Lok Sabha elections. The third phase, held on October 1, saw 40 seats in the Union Territory up for grabs, with male turnout at 69.37% and female turnout at an impressive 70.02%, according to the EC.
Notably, nearly 44% of voters from the third gender category participated. The final vote tallies will be confirmed post-counting, including postal ballots from service voters and others like absentee voters, as detailed by the Election Commission.
