Tarsem Singh, father of imprisoned radical preacher Amritpal Singh, declared on Sunday that he will launch a political party in Punjab aimed at the 'welfare of all.'

The announcement was made after Singh offered prayers at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Singh, an MP from Punjab's Khadoor Sahib constituency, is currently detained in Assam's Dibrugarh Jail under the National Security Act.

With upcoming Assembly bypolls in four Punjab constituencies, Singh emphasized the state's 'sensitive phase' and the need for a new party based on the principle of 'equality of mankind.'
