National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has attributed the low voter turnout during the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls in Srinagar to the Centre's portrayal of the region as normal. The second phase witnessed a 56% turnout, while the first phase saw 61.38% participation. Abdullah criticised the Centre, saying that the high voter turnout was misrepresented as acceptance of Article 370's revocation.

Abdullah, who is contesting from Ganderbal and Budgam, also questioned the Centre's move to invite foreign diplomats to observe the elections. He claimed this attempt to showcase normalcy backfired, resulting in Srinagar's low turnouts. In districts like Budgam, Ganderbal, and Reasi, voter participation crossed 60%, but Srinagar's eight segments saw only 29.81% turnout.

Campaigning in Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara for the upcoming phase, Abdullah is hopeful for higher participation, especially for NC candidates. He encouraged voters to support Congress where NC is not present. Despite the low numbers, Abdullah expressed gratitude to those who voted.
