The speculation began after photographs of Musk and Meloni at the event started circulating, showing them in a seemingly intimate moment. Musk presented Meloni with the Global Citizen Award, during which he praised her inner beauty. In turn, Meloni called Musk a 'precious genius.'

Meloni, who ended her long-term relationship in 2023, had specifically asked for Musk to present her with the award. The tech mogul had also made trips to Italy last year to meet with Meloni, adding fuel to the rumor mill.
