In a significant political shift, Dapinder Singh Romi, the district president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), along with several other members, officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday.
The new inductees were warmly received by Jammu and Kashmir BJP working president Sat Sharma and deputy in-charge Ashish Sood. Sharma expressed optimism that the inclusion of new members would fortify the party's position. "More people are gravitating towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies and are embracing the BJP," he stated, predicting that the BJP would independently form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharma asserted that the abrogation of Article 370 under PM Modi's leadership has ushered in peace to the Union Territory, noting the surge in tourism and the revival of film shoots. He also criticized the National Conference (NC) and Congress for allegedly promoting terrorism and unrest, challenging them to clarify their stance on Article 370 and reservation rights for Gujjars, Pahadis, and OBCs. Sood echoed Sharma's sentiments, expressing confidence in the BJP's rising popularity and predicting a majority win in the upcoming elections.
