Intense Israeli Airstrikes Kill 50 in Lebanon Amid Rising Tensions

Lebanon's Health Ministry reported that Israeli airstrikes killed 50 people and injured over 300. The strikes targeted southern and northeastern Lebanon, purportedly aiming at Hezbollah. Lebanese Health Ministry officials confirmed that a series of Israeli airstrikes on Monday resulted in 50 fatalities and over 300 injuries. Among the victims were women and children.

The airstrikes predominantly targeted southern and northeastern regions of Lebanon, as the Israeli military intensified its campaign against the Hezbollah militant group. A statement from the Israeli military, shared on the social media platform X, indicated that 300 targets were struck.

In one of the fiercest barrages in nearly a year, Israeli leaders, including Lt Gen Herzi Halevi, who approved additional attacks, have pledged a tougher stance against Hezbollah in the days to come. Concurrently, air-raid sirens sounded along northern Israel, signaling incoming rocket fire from Lebanon. Israeli authorities had previously advised residents in southern Lebanon to evacuate areas suspected of harboring Hezbollah's weaponry, warning of impending 'extensive strikes'.
