Farmer Leader Rakesh Tikait, who spearheads the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), staged a tractor rally protest in Madhya Pradesh's Narmadapuram district on Monday. The rally sought to push for an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of soybean from Rs 4,892 to Rs 6,000 per quintal. Starting from Tawa Colony in Seoni Malwa, the rally concluded at the Krishi Upaj Mandi in Seoni Malwa.

During the demonstration, Tikait addressed the farmers and urged them to maintain a non-political stance. He emphasized that the movement should not allow any political party's involvement and stressed that doing so would ensure no objections from officials or the government. Later, a memorandum was submitted to the district administration, expressing dissatisfaction with the delay in increasing the MSP.

Tikait highlighted the significance of the ongoing protest by drawing parallels with the 13-month-long Delhi farmers' protest. He warned that giving up the fight could lead to severe consequences for the country's food security. Supporting farmers, he stated, was essential to protect their land, crop, and breed. Tikait clarified that their issue is with the central government's MSP policies, and they aim to convey their grievances through the state government to higher authorities.

Over recent weeks, farmers across the state have been protesting for a fair MSP of Rs 6,000 per quintal for soybeans. They argue the current MSP of Rs 4,892 prevents them from covering their costs and demands urgent attention from the authorities. (ANI)
