Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati voiced her party's support for the Union Cabinet's approval of the 'One Nation, One Election' proposal on Wednesday, which aims to synchronize elections for the Lok Sabha, Assembly, and local bodies.

Mayawati emphasized that the initiative should prioritize national and public interests. She shared her views on her official handle on 'X', formerly known as Twitter, stating in Hindi, "Our party's stance on the Cabinet's approval of simultaneous elections is positive, but its objective must be in the national and public interest."

Despite support from BSP, most opposition parties have condemned the proposal, labeling it impractical and a 'cheap stunt' orchestrated by the ruling BJP.
