Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Saturday that a decision on reinducting NCP (SP) leader Eknath Khadse into the BJP will be made by the party's central leadership after the ongoing Ganesh festival.
Fadnavis also praised the government's recent decision to raise the customs duty on crude and refined sunflower and soybean oils, stating that the move will greatly benefit farmers. ''The Modi government has taken very important decisions so that farmers get good prices for their produce,'' he said at Nagpur airport. The central government increased the basic customs duty on these oils and reduced the duty on onion exports to 20 percent from 40 percent.
Hailing the renaming of Port Blair as Sri Vijaya Puram, Fadnavis said the symbols of colonial oppression should be removed. Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently announced this renaming to honor the historical significance of the region.
