Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Central General Secretary, Supriyo Bhattacharya, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using the issue of 'communal demography' to create confusion ahead of the elections. Bhattacharya stated this rhetoric was being used to shift focus onto illegal immigration.

According to Bhattacharya, the Central Government has filed an affidavit regarding this matter in the High Court. The affidavit noted an alleged change in demography due to Bangladeshi infiltration, although no clear evidence was provided about Bangladeshis residing in the Santhal Pargana area in the document.

The controversy erupted after the Jharkhand High Court ordered the state government in July to act against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. With Jharkhand gearing up for an election to its 81-member legislative assembly later this year, Bhattacharya believes the BJP is leveraging this issue to target the JMM administration.
