The official release from Friday night details that Revanth Reddy invited Shah to be the special guest for the event, which celebrates the introduction of democracy in Telangana in 1948. Invitations were also extended to Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy, and Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar.

This historic day, September 17, 1948, is approached differently by various political parties in Telangana. While the BJP designates it as 'liberation day,' the previous BRS regime observed it as 'National Integration Day.'
