Former prime minister Imran Khan on Friday accused the military establishment of orchestrating the disappearance of his party colleague, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, for eight hours. The incident has prompted the Pakistan government to investigate Khan's anti-army social media posts.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was reportedly missing for at least eight hours after delivering a speech critical of army leadership last Monday. Despite official statements citing a law and order meeting in Islamabad as the reason for his absence, Khan pointed fingers at the military establishment during a conversation with journalists at Adiala Jail.
Meanwhile, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that the Federal Investigation Agency's cybercrime unit will interrogate Khan regarding his anti-institution tweets. Khan, detained since last year, has persistently criticized the establishment, alleging that a powerful elite is undermining Pakistan's institutions. He also drew parallels to historical events, criticizing military influence over the country's democratic processes.
