Ukraine is pushing to ease restrictions on the use of weapons provided by the US and Britain, a topic that's set to dominate discussions between President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House on Friday.
Ukraine intends to get approval for using these weapons against deeper Russian targets. President Biden might be open to altering US policy in response. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that such moves could escalate the conflict and involve NATO more directly.
While Ukraine's appeal is expected to be a hot topic, two US officials have indicated that no policy changes will be announced immediately. During his recent visit to Kyiv, Secretary of State Antony Blinken noted the US's adaptability in response to Russia's changing battlefield strategies.
