State-wide protests erupted across Maharashtra on Friday as workers and leaders of the BJP demonstrated against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The protests were sparked by remarks Gandhi made about reservations during his visit to the United States.

Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule emphasized the necessity of the demonstrations, accusing Gandhi of harboring an anti-reservation mentality. However, Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat accused the BJP of spreading misinformation and performing political drama.

Speaking to students at Georgetown University, Gandhi suggested that reservations could be reevaluated when India becomes a fair place, which he argued is not its current state. This led to a state-wide BJP protest, including demonstrations by Maharashtra Housing Minister Atul Save and Dahisar MLA Manisha Chowdhary in Mumbai.

Conversely, Thorat defended Gandhi, arguing that his comments were misrepresented and accused the BJP of not verifying their claims. Thorat asserted that the people would not be misled by the BJP's narrative and accused the party of being anti-Constitution and anti-reservation.
