Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Parliament Raghav Chadha on Friday welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, referring to him as a symbol of honest politics whose jailing was due to his increasing popularity. Chadha added that Kejriwal and the AAP will spearhead the party's campaign in the forthcoming Haryana elections.

'I thank the Supreme Court. Arvind Kejriwal is not just a name, but a brand of honest politics. He was imprisoned for six months because of his rising popularity. This decision will bolster AAP's strength. Welcome back, Arvind Kejriwal. We will form a strategy after examining the Supreme Court's final order to understand the bail conditions. There is widespread joy in Delhi and across the country. Kejriwal will now lead AAP's campaign for the upcoming Haryana elections,' Chadha said. Punjab minister Bram Shanker Sharma - Jimpa also noted that the verdict had invigorated Haryana's cadres ahead of the assembly polls.

'Satyameva Jayate. Following the Gujarat elections, the BJP felt threatened and sought to undermine the AAP. Subsequently, Manish Sisodia was jailed, followed by Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh. The Supreme Court's remarks today about the CBI's image as a 'caged parrot' are significant. The BJP should reflect on this. This is a major victory for us. Enthusiasm is high among AAP volunteers, and Kejriwal will lead the charge in Haryana. The BJP will eventually be pushed to the back foot,' Sharma said. Meanwhile, BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia criticized the AAP for celebrating the bail order, emphasizing that Kejriwal has not been acquitted.

'Arvind Kejriwal has not received relief from any court, and no charges have been quashed. He has not been discharged, and the trial will continue. The AAP must answer why Kejriwal is not resigning. The BJP maintains zero tolerance against corruption. Eventually, the corrupt Arvind Kejriwal will be forced to resign,' Bhatia said. The Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal in a corruption case registered by the CBI in connection with the alleged excise policy scam.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21, 2024, in connection with a money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22. Later, on June 26, 2024, Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI while in ED custody regarding the excise case.
