Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) on Friday accused six British diplomats of espionage and announced the withdrawal of their accreditation.
Russian state TV, quoting an FSB official, stated that the diplomats will be expelled.
The FSB claims it has documents proving that the diplomats were sent by a UK Foreign Office division aimed at strategically defeating Russia and were involved in intelligence-gathering and subversive activities.
The expulsions come two days after the U.S. and Britain pledged nearly USD 1.5 billion in additional aid to Ukraine, amid renewed Ukrainian calls to use Western missiles against deeper Russian targets.
